Seeking Nor Cal students for Student Leadership Forum

Sunday, March 10th, 2013

PLEASE LET YOUR MESA DIRECTOR KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. (MOSTAFA GHOUS)

Dear Northern California MESA Director, Do you have leading students who would be interested in representing MESA to legislators in Sacramento? Thanks to a grant from UC Education Partnerships, 30 Northern California students from MESA will join 60 students from Puente and EAOP to learn leadership skills and speak to legislators about how their program has helped their academic progress. The Student Leadership Forum will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. through Thursday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m., at the Embassy Suites Sacramento, Riverfront Promenade, 100 Capitol Mall. All meals and accommodations will be paid by UC Education Partnerships. MESA will pay a $50 travel stipend, which includes parking, for each MESA driver to the conference. MSEA is allotted ten hotel rooms for our students—three students per room. We’re seeking teams in multiples of three (all male or all female) to accommodate the room situation. Any student under 18 must be accompanied by a center staff member. We also have hotel rooms available for participating MESA chaperones/staff leaders. If you’re interested in more than three student slots, and/or are interested in a chaperone/staff slot, please indicate so. While we were up at the Capitol earlier this month, a number of legislators asked directors when the MESA students would be visiting. So the Student Leadership Forum is something that many legislators look forward to!  For more information about the Student Leadership Forum, please go to: http://mesa.ucop.edu/slf/index.html/

If you’re interested, please let me know ASAP.

 Thanks!
