Alpha Gamma Sigma Awards SCC Students with Scholarships

FAIRFIELD, CA: Solano Community College (SCC) students Kevin Butt, Israel Jurado, and Elizabeth Pinto were awarded scholarships by Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS), the academic honor society and service organization of the California Community Colleges, at it’s 90th Annual AGS Convention held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, California.

AGS holds an annual convention each spring, at which the organization awards scholarships to students who excel in academics and/or community service. This year’s convention, held in San Jose, had 500 attendees representing 38 college chapters. At the award ceremony on Saturday, 49 student members of AGS were awarded scholarships totaling $37,900. Mr. Butt received the Ed Walsh award, which recognizes outstanding service. Mr. Jurado and Ms. Pinto received the Kathleen D. Loly Award, which recognizes academic excellence.
