Greeting Solano Community College,

 

Next Wednesday and Thursday, October 9th and 10th, the ASSC will be hosting a Bone Marrow Donor Drive in cooperation with the Asian American Donor Program (AADP).  Please see below for link for flyer.

 

In Fall 2012, AADP Outreach Coordinator Thi Ly approached the ASSC to coordinate a marrow donor drive to help a former SCC student, Kyle Lu, with advanced leukemia. Although we were unable to find a match for him, the event did generate awareness and help other families in need. Over the past year, over two hundred Solano Community College students have signed up to be donors, and we have found two potential matches so far.

 

Inspired by Kyle’s mother’s unwavering drive to find a match for her son, the ASSC is determined to make the AADP Bone Marrow Donor Drive a semesterly tradition. This is the third semester in a row that we have held this event and we need your help. Please show your support by encouraging your students to participate; bring your friends and family, spread the word among your coworkers. The event will be held outside the 1400 building from 10am to 3pm, October 9 and 10.

 

Becoming a donor takes only a few minutes and could actually save someone’s life.
